If not, here is the story:
The blue card – or, as it’s more formally known, the Developmental Disability Disclosure Card, is a driver’s license-sized card provided by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Association. It includes a space for a person to write down details about their developmental disabilities; it also allows that person to explain how it would be best for police officers to communicate with them.
The blue card is a great tool – and we want to make sure as many people know about it as possible. Plus, the card is free and easy to get!
If you’re interested in a blue card – or you’re the parent or guardian of someone who could benefit from it – all you have to do is visit the information desk at any of the Maryland Department of Transportation’s 24 branches during normal business hours.
You will not be asked to disclose any disabilities or show any documentation in order to get the card, and it is completely voluntary to carry it. It’s up to you!
