Can you share a memorable SCI moment?
I have so appreciated the opportunities to connect with SCI team members to see first-hand the deep commitment each person across the organization has to SCI’s mission and vision. Seeing this commitment reflected through so many Top Workplace awards is truly wonderful and fulfilling.
Are there experiences during your tenure that you will carry with you?
The support that has been provided to board members has contributed significantly to The Board’s success and development. We have had frequent opportunities to learn from industry experts who also supported my personal growth and leadership skills within my own workplace.
Is there an initiative that you are especially proud of?
During my seven-year tenure, I am proud of the company’s financial stability and growth. The organization’s management of the COVID-19 pandemic as it continued to provide excellent and people-first service to its clients was commendable. The strategic restructuring of the Executive Leadership team to meet the evolving needs of the communities we support was executed in a well-planned and considerate manner. The addition of the highly skilled People and Culture team to enhance employee initiatives has also been a high mark of my tenure.
What advice would you have for incoming board members or future leaders?
I recommend taking full advantage of all learning opportunities, including the Board Orientation and Retreat, and attending employee events. There are many acronyms to learn, often associated with government-funded programs, so exercise patience and ask plenty of questions!
