SCI Team Member Spotlight – Samantha

SCI’s very own, Supervising Service Coordinator, Samantha Norris, was named Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) Champion for her efforts in piloting a program using CtLC planning processes. This framework empowers people – and SCI is proud to use it in the context of the case management services we provide to the people we support, their families and supporters.

When asked what this honor means to her, Samantha said this was a testament to her work and vision in supporting, training, and developing Team Members.

“According to the oxford dictionary, champion can both be a noun, which is defined as “a person who fights for a cause or on behalf of someone else” and a verb which is defined as, “support the cause of; defend.” These definitions express both my desire to be a strong advocate, as well as encompassing the verb of being a strong leader who inspires and empowers others with tools and information,” she said.

Samantha believes the work she does with Charting the Life Course—it is both an identity of advocacy, as well as an action to empower the people we support to be seen holistically and individually.

“I support this role through my leadership by encouraging my Team Members and catchment to use Charting the Life Course tools and embracing that philosophy so that we can inspire collaborative and engaging Person Centered Planning meetings, as well as continue to enhance our team’s professional development in reframing our language for outcome development and to utilize these conversational skills to better gather information, develop rapport and engage all Team Members in resourceful problem solving.”

We are so proud of Samantha and her efforts, and we will continue to recognize the wonderful work that can be done through the Charting the LifeCourse framework!
