Charting the LifeCourse and A World for Everyone

At SCI, we believe in A World for Everyone – a world of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. To achieve this, we’re continually enhancing our service delivery and systems for Maryland residents, incorporating the Charting the LifeCourse framework.

The Charting the LifeCourse framework according to its website, is “an authentic grassroots activity, driven by the core belief that ‘all people have the right to live, love, work, play and pursue their life aspirations.’”

But what is it? And where did it come from?

The framework is designed for ALL people and was led by the Institute for Human Development at the University of Missouri – Kansas City in partnership with various stakeholders across the country – including SCI.

With eight key principles – from “focusing on all people” and “achieving life outcomes” to “supporting the three buckets of need” and “recognizing the person within the context of their family” – as well as various life domains and life stages that chart a life’s trajectory, the framework is a holistic way of supporting all people to live their ideal life.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be diving into what makes Charting the LifeCourse so important – and why SCI is committed to implementing it.
